Two nights ago Berns and I went to the Jazz Festival in Greenbelt. I had to meet her in Megamall,at men, andaming batang pankista!!!!! kakatakot. Oh well, lumakad kme papuntang shaw station and what luck we have, almost 3 stories ata ang hagdan. It was my first time at grabe hinapo ako na parang lola. Actually para kaming mga lola ni berns. My dala pa shang malaking itim na payong. We squeezed ourselves through people just to get in front of the expo center, to get a good view of the performers. First to perform was the Jewelmer Jazz band. Next was Subconcept. To think these people are my age, some even younger. Ganda nga ng combination e, there was a lot of excitement and youth in the way that they play pero at the same time may maturity at napakatechnical ng tunog. Tapos Affinity, wow. It was my first time to hear them and I was blown away. We were blown away. There is something about Filipino jazz, siguro kasi it does not feel as "foreign". Not that American or whatever kind of jazz feels foreign. I love all kinds of jazz.So very very much Each kind feels intimate and cerebral. Natuwa lang ako na may ganung festival. I got to see some of the best jazz acts na Pinoy in one night. We got to watch something that is very much ours. Amaaazing.
